Home network rewire

DONE

Ran proper ethernet from the garage router to the rest of the house — through walls, under a doorframe, and one memorably stubborn stud. Everything that used to drop Wi-Fi now just works.

ACTIVE

A small NAS that quietly serves movies and shows to the TV. Endless small tuning — storage, backups, making sure it survives a reboot without any babysitting.

Garage insulation & drywall

PAUSED

Batting's in, half the drywall's up. Paused for a weekend that isn't 95°F in an uninsulated garage. Will resume out of necessity, probably in October.

Fireplace surround repaint

DONE

Took a dated painted-brick surround from "builder beige" to something that doesn't fight with the rest of the room. Three coats, a lot of painter's tape, no regrets.
